Many have suspected that the grotto, or cave, that appears in Sauniere's Altar bas-relief may be alluding to a real cave in the area around Rennes-le-Chateau. I can now tell you this is true.
Although some have said they have found it, their caves bare no resemblance to the one Sauniere painted.
In this publication you will discover the real altar cave. Not just a cave plucked at random, but the actual grotto depicted in the altar.
You will see evidence that the rock forming the entrance of the real cave match those painted on Sauniere's altar.
