What follows is a brief examination of Side 2 of the Message.

3 - PART KEY DESIGN

A 3-Part Key design has been drawn at the top of the page. Each section is numbered. The Star of David design is in part 1. This design also appears on side 1 of the document along with the number 1. This is to indicate that this is the first part of a 3 part message.

Along the top of the key design with 3 letters in each section is the word:

OCCULTTUS

Hidden, Secret, concealed, referring to the 'knowledge of the secret' or 'knowledge of the hidden'

But an extra ‘T’ has been added, it should read OCCULTUS.
This extra ‘T’ must have been included for a purpose, maybe to reinforce the ‘3’ element of the design.

Written along the bottom of the design, with one letter in each section is:

EGO

I am - with slight variations.

3 - Part Key Design

If we add the two words together, we have the phrase, OCCULTUS EGO. This could be; I AM HIDDEN, ‘I’ being a body or a treasure perhaps. It could also be translated as; I AM THE SECRET KNOWLEDGE, ‘I’ perhaps in this instance being this document.
Or if we are meant to use the meanings more than once, I AM HIDDEN SECRETLY.
Better English would be: I have been secretly concealed!
Now things are really getting exciting, is this document going to lead to something that is hidden, a treasure? I certainly hoped so.
Sandy came up with a good hypothesis as to why the extra T in occulttus may have been included:
“Are we then to add it (the extra T) to the word ‘ego’?
As in ‘TEGO’ - well, lo and behold, TEGO means the following:
tego : tegere : texi : tectum : to cover, bury, conceal, hide, protect, shield.
tego : I conceal.
In fact, a researcher deduced the word ‘tego’ in the ‘et in arcadia ego...’ motto on the Poussin tomb....
ET IN ARCADIA EGO = I TEGO ARCANA DEI
‘BEGONE, I CONCEAL THE SECRETS OF GOD’
Another anagram is: TEGO ARCANA DEI = I KNOW THE SECRETS OF GOD
OCCULTUS means, HIDDEN, SECRET or CONCEALED, referring to the ‘KNOWLEDGE OF THE SECRET’ or ‘KNOWLEDGE OF THE HIDDEN’.”
Things are getting more interesting now, but what ‘secret’ has been hidden and where?
Is this message going to reveal this knowledge?
It was with excitement that I continued.

GOLGOTHA

In section 3 of the key design a word has been written inside a box:

GOLGOTHA

A quick search on the internet provided me with this:

Matt 27:33 (KJS) And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha , that is to say, a place of a skull, 34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted [thereof], he would not drink. 35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Easton's Dict. [golgotha] # 1522 Golgotha the common name of the spot where Jesus was crucified. It is interpreted by the evangelists as meaning "the place of a skull" #Mt 27:33 Mr 15:22 Joh 19:17 This name represents in Greek letters the Aramaic word Gulgaltha, which is the Hebrew Gulgoleth #Nu 1:2 1Ch 23:3,24 2Ki 9:35 meaning "a skull." It is identical with the word Calvary (q.v.). It was a little knoll rounded like a bare skull.

As this appears on the final part of the Key, we can only assume it has some bearing on what is to be found when all of the three parts have been discovered and deciphered and may be the 'secret' hinted at by OCCULTUS EGO.

STAR OF DAVID DESIGN

We know of a Star of David Design that has been drawn by Sauniere in one of his books in the Rennes-le-Château museum. Sauniere's Star is similar to the star design on both sides of this document'

Though not exact there are similarities in this and the Message Star of David.

MAP LINE AND CLUES

Part of the message seems to be a map, a wavy line, that could be a road, track or river. Though incomplete until joined with parts 2 & 3, I think I have identified what it is and its position on a map of the area around Rennes-le-Chateau. Only when the next 2 parts are found will I be certain.

If we have Part-1, then it stands to reason there are two more parts to be found, but where? A group of words, with an arrow connecting them to section two of the design, must be a set of clues, that if deciphered, will lead to the location where the second part is hidden.

JERUSALEM CIPHER

The most interesting feature on this side is the design made from words and symbols, I have named it the, Jerusalem Cipher, as this is the most prominent word. Much is revealed from this and full decription of this code isin the book Lost Tomb of the Knights Templar.

So at first glance the document seems to posses little information, it is only when you start examining it in detail does it start to give up its secrets. Even now I am still learning something new from this first message. Only after finding the second part did I realize it was not only the words that were the clues but the symbols in the Jerusalem Cipher also were a map to use as an aid to solve the clues and so pinpoint the location of the second part of the message. All very fascinating. Whether this was written by Sauniere's hand or not, whoever is responsible they had a very intelligent mind.

Even with less than forty words on this document and just a few drawings, it still manages to contain so much information, part 2 has over 900 words, so imagine the wealth of information encoded in that document.
